Are you year round? Why?
The “summer slide” is a well-documented phenomenon that we educators see often. Schools let out for summer break after a series of final exams, happy that content has been mastered, and then after summer break, when school is back in session, we spend weeks just reteaching what we thought had been mastered in the previous school year! We decided to be a year-round school first to eliminate the “summer slide”, and the second reason is far more useful. Our schools should prepare our learners for life after high school. There are very few professions that operate on a school’s schedule. By teaching year-round, we’re giving our learners the chance to learn how to better budget time throughout the year. The third reason is strictly research. Given the mind’s ability to retain and retrain information, there are certain aspects of learning that we overlook when we subject our children (and ourselves) to intense learning crammed into 8 months of the year. We all need breaks to “forget” and “recall”. This effect is known as interleaving, and content that’s had room to breathe before review has a better chance of settling into long-term memory. A three-month summer break doesn’t provide a chance to recall until after the ideal time, hence the phenomenon of “summer slide”. So, we here at Spyrja decided to move to year-round education, 9 weeks on, three weeks off, in order to ensure our learners maximize their potential.
What is your cost per year?
Currently, Spryja's tuition is $11,500 per year for full-time students. We also tier our tuition based on your and your child's needs. We offer single classes for credit, cooperate with homeschool families, and offer our Friday services, too!
Do you offer discounts?
Our Servicemen and Women are very dear to us. So, we provide a 10% discount for all military families. We also offer a 15% discount for siblings. These discounts do not stack.
Do you offer classes for credit or credit recovery?
We certainly do! The cost per course for a full year is $2875.
Do you work with homeschools?
We will gladly partner with homeschool families. Children who are enrolled with us for homeschool support are as much a part of our community as our full-time families. Please contact Jourdan for more details.
